Nebraska feedlots with capacities of 1,000 or more head contained 1.96 million cattle on feed Aug. 1. This inventory was up 2% from last year. Placements of cattle into feedlots during July totaled 370,000 head, down 10% from 2009. Marketings of fed cattle during July totaled 400,000 head, the same as last year. Other disappearance during July totaled 10,000 head, unchanged from 2009.

Nationally, cattle and calves on feed for slaughter market in the US for feedlots with capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 9.9 million head on Aug. 1. The inventory was 2% above August 1, 2009. Placements in feedlots during July totaled 1.75 million, 6% below 2009. Marketings of fed cattle during July totaled 1.90 million, 2% below 2009. Other disappearance totaled 48,000 during July, 12% above 2009.
