About CropWatch

CropWatch presents timely information from Extension specialists and educators and researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR). It is produced by IANR's Communication and Information Technology. From pest management and production recommendations to news releases, research updates, meeting notices, color photos and weather data, CropWatch provides changing news throughout the crop production season to help keep the state's producers and agribusinesses informed.

E-mail notice subscriptions. If you would like to receive an E-mail notice when a new edition of the newsletter is posted to the web, complete the form at http://cropwatch.unl.edu/mailform.htm. Notices are usually mailed on Fridays.

Contributing Units

Faculty from the following departments or units at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and its research and extension centers around the state contribute regularly to CropWatch. Extension educators from across the state also contribute stories and field reports.

Viewing tips

  1. We recommend using Microsoft Explorer for viewing CropWatch. Occasionally some files, especially lengthy tables, may be compiled in Adobe Acrobat and will be labeled with a "pdf" extension. To read these files you'll need to download Adobe Acrobat, which is available free from the company web site.
  2. If you're looking for a specific story you remember reading in CropWatch, but are not sure when it was posted, there are several ways to locate it in the archives:
  3. The video clips provided by UNL's Market Journal or Ag Almanac require RealPlayer software for viewing. This software is available free at http://www.real.com/realone/index.html?src=020110realhome_3
  4. Some of the graphics and photos included in CropWatch are available in two viewing sizes: a smaller one to facilitate faster downloading and a larger one to provide more detail. If a blue box appears around the photo, click on it to link to the larger version.
  5. UNL IANR web sites provide valuable information 24 hours a day seven days a week. Visit the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources web site at http://ianrhome.unl.edu/ and link to a variety of NU sites. The IANR search engine at http://ianrhome.unl.edu/search.shtml can be used to search for a specific topic on a number of IANR web sites.
